Days 27, 28 & 29

Day 27, January 27/09.
Emma is really into making pictures right now. This is Mickey Mouse, made for her sister (since Sophie's favourite show is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse). Either Mickey is VERY tall, or those are some small trees.

Day 28, January 28/09
I took about 15 photos of Lily today, and she closed her eyes for EVERY ONE.

Day 29, January 29/09.
Sophie is getting her boots on so we can go to lunch with Fran. We had a lovely time, and I got all the scoop about my "old" job. Hee, hee, I guess it's Fran's "old" job now too. Yay for us!!! And yay especially for Fran, who was wise enough to say "enough is enough".

Days 24, 25, 26

Day 24, January 24/09
This is the lovely picture Emma made of Lily. I'm not sure it was meant to look like Lily was jumping over the flowers, but that's what it looks like to me!

Day 25, January 25/09
A tiny girl and her tiny kitty. They are deep in conversation, I think.

Day 26, January 26/09
Sophie got new cards for her ViewMaster for Christmas. She put one of them in today, and was so excited. "Little Einsteins!"

Day 23, January 23/09

So, yesterday we had a kitty tragedy. Our cat Twyla was hit by a car and died :(

Today, we found a new kitty friend. She is 12 weeks old and I'm pretty sure her name is Lily. She has lots of energy, but has been quite gentle with the girls so far (knock on wood).

Days 21 & 22

January 21/09
The fish are always a big hit. I like this one of Emma - watching Sophie - watching the fish.

Day 22, January 22. Using my "big" lens... it's (not so surprisingly) quite heavy. I think I should have gotten a bit closer, but I was trying to concentrate on getting the snow "white". Still seems a bit blue to me... but it's the best of the 10 or so I took, some of them were quite gray...

Day 20, January 20/09

I watched the inauguration live through cnn.com and facebook today while at work. But, it's all good, I have the most awesomest boss ever, and she SENT me the link. I was excited to watch history in the making. I hope he lives up to all the hope we're putting in him.

The photo is of less-than-stellar quality, as it was taken with my crappy camera-phone. But, hey, you work with what you've got, right??

Days 18 & 19

Day 18, January 18/09
Had a jamammie-day today, since it was blizzarding outside and Emma still wasn't feeling great. The girls made a very nice picture together!

Day 19, January 19/09
I'm calling this one "Oh, the Drama". Enough said.

Days 16 & 17

Day 16, January 16/09. Poor sick Emma was having a cuddle on the couch with her dad and her new High School Musical blanket. Sophie didn't want to be left out, so she and her Tinkerbell blanket joined them.

Day 17, January 17/09. Emma still wasn't feeling great, but she braved a smile or two for a mini photo shoot with her tiny sister. This was my favourite, although it looks SO much better in the large version. I hate how it blurs the photo when you make it email size :(

Day 15, January 15/09

So, apparently it's necessary to get as close as humanly possible to the Leapster for it to work correctly. And, I guess it also helps to have a 1/2 naked doll to rest your head on.

Chandra came over today to help me figure out how to use my camera, and she gave me some great tips! I am hoping that I understood her well enough to be able to apply what she said to my photo-taking!

Days 13 & 14

Day 13, January 13/09

While dusting (yes, I do occasionally dust), I saw my Willow Tree mom & daughter from this angle, and I thought it was interesting. So I took a photo!

Day 14, January 14/09

While at Walmart to get Emma a new helmet, Shane found Mario Kart for the Wii. Needless to say, he bought it. Once Emma got the hang of the steering wheel, she did pretty well!

Day 12, January 12/09

This is Emma's latest painted masterpiece. I love the colours, and that she used the whole page. And that it's "swirly", which is how she described it to me.

Sunday, January 11, 2009

Day 11, January 11/09

The girls and their puppies-in-purses. Emma's is her new Webkins dog (whom she named "Shimmer") and Sophie's is her Dora-Vet set doggie (Perrito). They are "playing doggies" together.

Day 10, January 10/09

Yup, we sure did get a Wii today. Emma LOVED the bowling. I'm more partial to the tennis, I think. Either way, it has been great fun for all so far.

Days 8 & 9

Day 8, January 8/09

Sophie playing with Pat Pat Rocket - the loudest toy in existence. It sings an entire song every time you roll it. And it has no volume control. It DOES however have an "off", which is the only reason it is still in our house.

Day 9, January 9/09 Happy Birthday Brad!

This is my first attempt with the new camera at getting a sleeping photo of Sophie. I was too nervous about waking her up to really get a good one, though. But, at least you can see (some of) the kazillions of "friends" that she insists on taking to bed each night.

Day 7, January 7, 2009

Snow day today - or, for Emma it was anyway! I still went to work...

Today's photo is of Sophie, and I think it's hilarious! She's saying "Too scary!", which is something she says all of the time (which makes me think she's not really scared at all...) I love the look on her face.

Day 6, January 6, 2009

I'm curious as to why my 6 year old must do homework? Does she not get enough school work while AT school? And, further: why is said homework so easy that it takes her three minutes a night? Seems like an awful waste of time for me to make her sit down to do it. Can't say I much blame her for not being very motivated.

Day 5, January 5, 2009

Look at the messy hair! We thought she'd never get hair (it's only within the last 6 months or so that she's had ANY hair at all), and now that it's growing in, I don't know what to do with it! It's ringlet-curly when it's wet, and when it dries it just gets crazy. Maybe once it gets a bit thicker???

Day 4, January 4, 2009

The Nintendo DS was a good purchase. Emma's nose is rarely out of it. She thinks it is the best thing ever. It had better be, for what it cost!!
She spent almost all the money/gift cards that she got for Christmas on new games. We had given her three games WITH the system, and now she has three more. Today we got her Wall-E, and she kept telling us, "Remember how I just got it today? Well, I'm already good at it!"

Day 3, January 3, 2009

I actually took several different photos today, so I had to choose which one to be my today-photo!

Here is the one I chose... Sophie helping Shane put together a chair that goes with our new kitchen table. Shane and Emma went to Home Depot to get shelves for downstairs, and came home with a table instead. Sure, whatever.

Sophie is a GOOD helper.

Day 2, January 2, 2009

Today we did shopping and more shopping. Emma had money left that was burning a serious hole... So, now it's all spent and I can have some peace. Hopefully.

The girls got "matching" chairs today (Sophie's is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Emma's is, of course, High School Musical), and when we got home they sat side-by-side and played their games (Emma gave Sophie her old Leapster now that she has her Nintendo DS). I just thought it was so cute. My little-little girl is just always like her big sister!

Day 1: January 1, 2009

And.... begin.

Today was just the right amount of eventful. We went to Mom & Dad's house for New Year's Day Dinner with Aunt Dorothy & Uncle Don. We had ribs, which made Emma and Shane happy. We had apple pie, which made me happy. The kids had ice cream, which made Sophie happy. After dinner we were treated to a lovely show of Nutcracker Dancing by Emma, and a bit by Sophie. A good time was had by all.

So, here is my Day One photo. It is Emma & Sophie sitting on the toy box, which was actually "the school bus". My children do have good imaginations.

Hope that everyone else had a fun-filled start to 2009!
